Three-year-old orphan resides at a police station in Mumbai

Mumbai: A three-year-old orphan has made the Nalasopara police station his home since the past five days, when the child was found loitering near the precincts of the police station.

The boy has been christened as Devdoot. Women officials ensure that they bathe him and give him piping hot food. People who visit the police station express surprise as to why the boy is not being taken to the Bhiwandi orphanage, which is a routine procedure.

The police meanwhile have tried to match the boy's description with the missing person cases lodged in police stations at Mira Road, Bhayander, Vasai and Virar, but no report of a missing three-year-old child of this description has been lodged there.

Police conclude that the boy has been abandoned by his guardians.
