Two advocates found murdered in Mumbai flat

Mumbai: Two practicing lawyers of the Bombay High Court were found murdered at their first floor flat located in a residential building in Bhendi Bazaar area on Monday, police said.

The victims, identified as Femida Shaikh (60) and her nephew Arsh Shaikh (27), were found dead with injury marks on their hands and backs after police broke open the door of their first floor flat in building 29/A located in Pathanwadi in south Mumbai on Monday afternoon, they said.

According to police, the residents of the building complained of foul smell emanating from the flat located on the first floor of the one-storied building.

Police had to break open the door of the flat as they failed to elicit any response from inside and found decomposed bodies of the duo.

Police said prima facie robbery did not seem to be the motive behind the murder as the belongings in the flat, including the cellphones of the victims, found untouched.

Police suspect that culprits could have been known to the aunt-nephew duo.

Besides the High Court, the victims used to practice in the sessions court, police said, adding the two were last seen on Friday.

A case of murder has been registered against unidentified persons in the J J Marg police station, they added.
