Under-construction bridge collapses near Mumbai airport, three killed

Mumbai: Three persons were killed and seven injured on Wednesday night after a portion of a bridge coming up near the Mumbai international airport collapsed.

The police have registered a case of negligence and grievous hurt against the contractor, engineer and other staff of the company building the bridge.

Eight fire engines and four ambulances helped in the rescue operation through the night.

Officials said those trapped under the debris were mostly workers.

The injured have been admitted to Cooper Hospital and VN Desai Hospital.

The area has been cleared of the debris and traffic on the road is smooth.
