Umang Raghuvanshi's application 'Statusify', that is now set to launch after six months of hard work, has already drawn much attention.
At a time when youngsters across the world are trying to carve their niche in the field of technology by creating apps, 16-year-old Umang Raghuvanshi is already a step ahead of his peers. The pursuit of his passion, which is app development, has bagged Umang a place in the Microsoft Developers Network.
"Microsoft approached me after they saw my app and they took me on. Over the last year I have received cloud computing, I am allowed to run my software on Microsoft servers and the value of these easily crosses over Rs 1 lakh," gushed Umang excitedly.
The perks don't just stop there. Not only does Umang get the latest technological support but as a member of the Developers Network he also gets the big opportunity to learn from the best developers across the globe - and he is making the most of this opportunity. His application 'Statusify', that is now set to launch after six months of hard work, has already drawn much attention.
'Statusify' tracks the web application status of different portals. It gives you an idea whether a particular website or applications is under maintenance and also when it was last updated.
"This concept is relatively new, even applications which have a similar function are usually too expensive to download," said Umang.
With more and more web based companies moving on to the app only model, experts believe it's platforms like the Microsoft Developers Network which help improve the quality of applications.
"Whatever is being done to help the app eco system is always welcome as then you will have better apps and more relevant apps out there," said Hrishi Oberoi, tech expert and the founder of Photon Tadpole.
Getting into the app eco-system is no easy task. Right from ideation to execution and validation, all three steps come with their own share of challenges. While Umang has already crossed two of those barriers, he now readies himself for the final one - impressively all of this just at the age of 16.
