Mumbai:
While bar owners and patrons shake in their boots on hearing the name of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vasant Dhoble, a few petty thieves were having a hearty laugh when they stole the bar raiding cop's shoes.
On Tuesday, on the auspicious day of Angarika Chaturthi, Dhoble had visited the Siddhivinayak temple at Dadar. A source told MiD DAY, "Dhoble had gone to the temple to pay respects to Lord Ganesha on Tuesday afternoon. He removed his footwear outside the Dadar police station chowkie located inside the temple compound. After skipping the queue, he was granted a darshan of the God."
But when he stepped out of the temple, he noticed his footwear was missing. According to a source, Dhoble was incensed to see his shoes missing and searched for them, but to no avail. "Initially, he thought he had misplaced them. Then he asked officials around if his footwear had been washed away by the heavy rain."
An irate Dhoble then ordered all the officials on-duty at the temple search the compound for his missing footwear. Cursing his misfortune, a barefooted Dhoble returned to his jeep after 15 minutes and drove off. When MiD DAY contacted Dhoble, he denied the theft and mockingly said, "One day, I, too, will be stolen."
