Mumbai: A 43-year-old woman from Juhu and one of her three domestic helps were allegedly murdered by the other two in her apartment on Tuesday.
According to the Juhu police, the woman, identified as Kavita Suchak, was in her house at Jai Jagdish apartments on JVPD 5 along with the three servants, while her husband and daughter were away at work.
Around 7.30 am, when her husband, Rakesh, a financier by profession, returned home, no one answered the door to his repeated knocks.
So he used his keys to enter the house, only to find the mangled bodies of his wife and the help, Jagdish Vardhai (30). He immediately called the cops.
Police officials speculate that the murders occurred in the afternoon. "Suchak was hit with a heavy object in her bath; her body was found in the bathroom. Vardhai was stabbed in the hall; his body was found tethered to a chair," said Vishwas Nangre Patil, additional commissioner of police (west region).
After the murders, the two accused, both natives of Nepal, had tried to break open the locker, cops said, but failed.
They did, however, steal valuables from a cupboard. The police are now trying to assess the worth of the stolen goods.
The police have registered a case of double murder and are on the lookout for the two accused helps, who have since been absconding.
