Mumbai:
In yet another case of a woman strangulated to death, the body of a woman was found at a train yard in Mumbai, an official said on Tuesday.
According to the Mumbai Central Railway Police, a motorman discovered the body late on Sunday while he was on his way out from the rail yard in Dadar.
"After he parked the train at the yard, he became aware of a strong stench. When he checked, he discovered the body," senior police inspector Bharat Rane told reporters.
"The motorman alerted his superiors who then called the railway police control room," Rane added.
Preliminary medical examination indicated that the woman was in her mid-30s.
According to the post-mortem report, she was strangled to death.
"She was wearing a blue saree when found. The level of decomposition in her body suggest she was dead at least two days before being found," Rane said.
On March 10, the body of a woman was found stuffed in a suitcase at Mumbai's Juhu beach. The woman has not been identified yet. Preliminary medical tests did not rule out strangulation as the main cause of death.
On March 15, another body was found stuffed in a suitcase at Mumbai's Sandhurst Road railway station. The woman was pregnant, and was later identified. Her husband and two brothers-in-law were arrested for the murder.
