Muzaffarnagar:
A seven-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by a youth in Purkazi town, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday when one Bhura lured the minor with a candy and took him to an isolated place where he allegedly sodomised him, they said.
The boy was also threatened of dire consequences if he spoke about the incident.
Based on the complaint file by the victim's family, a case was registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and also under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation)of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused is on the run and efforts are on to nab him, police said.
There has been a rise in cases of sexual offence against children in the district with the number increasing to 316 from 146 in the last 14 months.
