A 13-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two people in Jewar area in Grater Noida, police said on Tuesday.
The villagers attacked one of the accused, Ashish Bhati of Vair village, and handed him over to police, Superintendent of Police (rural) Abhishek Yadav said.
The girl was sent for medical examination.
The girl was allegedly kidnapped from the Tappal Road market on Monday in broad day light and taken to Yamuna Expressway Sabota interchange. The accused then took her to a sugarcane field where they took turns to rape her.
The girl's relatives claimed that there was no woman police official when the girl was taken by the police. They said that policemen did not allow them to meet her for a few hours.
They also alleged that initially, police tried to hush up the case, but later filed an FIR under relevant provisions of law.
Police are searching for the absconding accused.
