Doctor robbed of car, cash in Greater Noida

Greater Noida: A doctor was stopped and beaten up by a gang of assailants who fled with his car, cash, a gold chain and mobile phone in Greater Noida, police said on Thursday.

According to police, Pradeep Singh, the president of Indian Medical Association's Greater Noida chapter and vice president of the Uttar Pradesh chapter, was robbed while he was going to drop a friend at his house.

The doctor, who runs a clinic in Greater Noida and stays in A-block, Alpha-I here, was returning from a friend's house on Wednesday night when a pedestrian stopped him and asked for directions.

As Dr Singh stopped the car and lowered the window, the pedestrian took out the keys from the ignition while four others joined him and attacked the doctor, who initially tried to resist.

After overpowering him, the assailants got into the car and dropped him at the roundabout near Ryan School.

The injured doctor sought help from a passer-by, whose mobile he used to call up police to report the incident.

The Kasna police registered a case of robbery against unidentified men. "We have pointed out some suspects and have gathered some clues. The case is being worked upon. We would make arrests soon," said Superintendent of Police (Greater Noida), Rakesh Kumar Jolly.
