Noida:
A family of three was found dead on Tuesday in their house in Noida in what appears to be a case of suicide, police said.
Uma Shankar, 30, his wife Hina, 26, and their one-year-old daughter Akriti were found dead in the first floor portion of their house Tuesday morning, police said.
Shankar used to work in a call centre in Noida but had been unemployed for quite some time.
The incident came to light when Shankar's younger brother, who lives on the second floor of the house, knocked on the door but did not get any response. He called his father, who informed the police. The cops forced open the door and found the three people dead. While Hina and Akriti were lying on the floor, Uma Shankar was found hanging.
Police suspect that Uma Shankar first administered poison substance to his wife Hina and daughter Akriti and then hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his bedroom.
"Although the police are investigating the case, prima facie it seems to be a case of depression. Uma Shankar was jobless at present. He might have taken this extreme step due to the stress," said Noida City SP, Anant Deo.
