Noida: A 27-year-old businessman suffocated his wife to death in a five-star hotel in Noida today and tried to pass off the murder as suicide.

Police said the accused, Ishan, and his wife, Akanksha, had a strained relationship and had separated recently.

Ishan had called his 24-year-old wife to a room in Hotel Radisson in Noida Sector 18 today to talk and sort out their differences, but ended up having another fight there. In the heat of the moment, he suffocated her to death with a pillow, the police said.

Then, to pass off the crime as a suicide, he wrote two suicide notes - one for his wife and the other for him.

The suicide notes said that since Ishan was suffering financial losses in his telemarketing business, the couple had decided to end their lives.

In his suicide note, Ishan wrote he was going to jump off a building in Mayur Vihar in east Delhi, and fled from the hotel.

The Noida Police, on finding the suicide notes in the hotel, alerted the Mayur Vihar police to be on the lookout for Ishan.
