In yet another example of vigilantism, a suspected thief was lynched by villagers for stealing buffaloes in Noida's Surajpur area on Sunday.
Three thieves were stealing buffaloes from a house in Kulesra Hindon Colony in wee hours on Sunday, when the house owner woke up and raised an alarm, police said.
Angry villagers nabbed one of the thieves and beat him to death while the other two managed to escape.
Villagers said they were agitated as since last few months animal thefts were on the rise in the area.
The victim has not been identified so far, police said.
