Noida: 2,913 bottles of smuggled liquor seized

Greater Noida: A total of 2,913 bottles of liquor have been seized by district excise and police officers as part of a crackdown against liquor smuggling in the area ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

Joint operations today yielded the large haul of smuggled liquor in the Noida and Greater Noida areas.

"Fifty-three cartons were seized from three different areas and five liquor smugglers were arrested today by a district excise team," said Kuldeep Yadav, District Excise Officer.

"Surajpur police arrested one liquor smuggler and seized 31 bottles while Kasna police arrested another liquor smuggler (identified as one Mahadev) and seized 16 bottles.

"Sector 49 police arrested liquor smuggler Neeraj and seized 192 bottles while Dadri police arrested one Chaman and seized 130 bottles," Yadav said while giving the details of some of the arrests.

"A total of 2,913 bottles of smuggled liquor have been seized.

"Locals are providing information about smuggled liquor being circulated in the area," Yadav added.
