Noida: A class 11 student killed herself in Noida on Thursday after Police allegedly refused to act on her complaint that she was being stalked and harassed by neighbours.
A resident of Chhajarsi village in Noida's Sector 63, on the outskirts of Delhi, the girl hanged herself in her room days after writing a suicide note.
"I found a suicide note in her bag a few days ago. She had written that men from the family next door were harassing her for the last few days," her brother said.
He said that her sister had written in her note that the men used to threaten her that if she didn't come with them they would kidnap her and take her somewhere.
"We went to the police the same night to lodge a first information report but they did nothing. They did nothing," he said.
The girl's father said that for four days the police did nothing despite being told about the names and address of the alleged stalkers, she killed herself.
A senior police officer admitted that the girl's family had come to register a complaint about four days before she killed herself.
"Local police officials have been asked for an explanation on the incident. If the police station incharge is at fault then action will be taken," Dinesh Yadav, Noida Superintendent of Police, said.
