New Delhi: A 25-year-old woman was shot dead in the parking lot of her apartment complex in Noida near Delhi early this morning.

Anjali Rathour, an engineer, worked with a private mobile company and lived at the Shatabdi Rail Vihar complex in Sector 62.

The shooting has been caught on camera. Footage from CCTV near the elevators shows a woman running, a man close on her heels. The time was 6.34 am. The man had a gun and apparently shot her multiple times at close range.

Ms Rathour was spotted by neighbours sometime later and then identified by a roommate who was on her way to a coaching class.

Her parents, who live in Haryana, have alleged that she was killed by someone known to her. She had started working in June last year.

According to the police, Ms Rathour came down from her third floor home after receiving a call.

The man on CCTV had apparently signed his name on the entry register of the complex as "Shanno". He also left a mobile number, which was found to have been used last near Hindon river.

The man has not been identified yet, the police say; the family claims he studied with her at the university.

A man from Ms Rathour's mother's village in Etawah is being suspected, say the police.
