New Delhi: Commuters had to face a harrowing time today when protesting farmers blocked an entry point to Noida near Delhi, throwing traffic out of gear.
The road connecting Noida to Delhi near Mayur Vihar became chock-a-block with vehicles standing bumper to bumper. The 15-km traffic jam stretched from Akshardham Temple to Noida Expressway. (See pics)
The farmers were demanding an increased compensation from the Noida administration as ordered by the Allahabad High Court for the land they have taken for various projects. The farmers say the authorities have not complied.
The High Court had ordered that the farmers be given 10 per cent of the value for developed land and 64 per cent interest.
