Will Gadd, named the Adventurer of the Year in 2015 by the National Geographic, has created history by climbing by the wall of ice and snow that was the frozen Niagara Falls on January 27th.

The climb up Niagara - the collective name of the three waterfalls on the border of Canada and the United States of America - was done under the supervision of the New York State Park Police to ensure the site wasn't harmed in any way. A day before the climb, Will had to break off any ice spikes on his set route that could have caused problems later on.

Talking to CBC News, Will said: "It's the biggest, coolest, wildest, most well-known waterfall in North America. As an ice climber, that's very, very attractive." Will has previously scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.

Sponsored by Red Bull, Will's climb - which began on the American side of the falls - has been documented on video and through pictures. The video uploaded by Red Bull on its official YouTube channel has garnered over 2 lakh views in just a day.

Will shared this incredible image on Facebook which shows him hanging onto the icy side wall of the Niagara, as water gushes by fairly close to him.

Millions of people visit the Niagara Falls every year just to feel what's it's like to be in the combined presence of the three falls which tumble over the rocks with massive force.
