Lucknow: Everything is fair in love, war and elections, or so it seems in this Lok Sabha polls.

And this is more evident in Uttar Pradesh, where a student is contesting against his guru, a nephew is pitched against his uncle, national president of a political party is competing with own lieutenant and a woman has filed nomination against a heavyweight to avenge murder of her son.

Congress nominee Reeta Bahuguna Joshi, who in fray for prestigious Lucknow parliamentary constituency, other than the political opponents is likely to face a tough fight from an unexpected candidate - Ambaresh Mishra.

Ambaresh, who is contesting on Ulema Council ticket, had been a student of Joshi at Allahabad University way back in 1981 to 1983.

"She used to teach us Medieval history at Allahabad University. At that time I was an under-graduate student and she was a lecturer," said Ambaresh, who is a journalist by profession.

"At that time I never thought that one day I will be contesting election against my own guru, but politics is politics. Though it feels odd, but we are face to face vying for the same seat. I don't have any competition with her at personal level and I met Joshi before her candidature was announced," he said.
