Hyderabad: A bear escaped from Hyderabad's Nehru Zoological Park on Monday night around 10 pm.
Panicked locals spotted the bear on the wall of the zoo and informed the control room.
The beast was finally caught after a 45-minute chase.
Officials had to use tranquilliser injections to bring the bear under control.
The bear first tried to dig a trench in its enclosure but finally succeed in escaping by tearing a hole in the rusted iron fencing, reports said.
