Hyderabad:
General public caught two persons when they tried to steal a goat using a car near here, police said on Thursday.
Mohd Aleem and Shaik Aleem were caught by public in Bandlaguda Crossroads on Wednesday evening when they tried to commit theft of a goat near Ghouse Nagar and handed over to police, an officer said.
"They came in a car and tried to steal a goat, but were chased and caught by the public," Chandrayangutta Sub-Inspector of Police Mohammed Niazuddin said.
The modus operandi of the duo, who claimed to be in real estate business, was to move on the outskirts of the city in a car and attract stray goats using a bun, he said.
"As the goat approached the car, they would throw a bed-sheet and pull the animal into the car and later sell it to butcher," the officer said.
Both of them have confessed to steal about 30 goats in the past one month, he said.
