As a neighbourhood in Fresno, California, waited for the paramedics and firefighters to arrive and rescue a man trapped inside a house on fire, a bystander walked in and rescued him instead. Shot on a mobile phone, this footage pans across the chaotic scene in which flames lick the sky as the terrified and hapless daughter of the trapped man yells for somebody to help.
And miraculously, somebody does.
The 5-minute video shows an unidentified man calmly walk into the blazing house engulfed in thick clouds of smoke. A few minutes later, he hurries out with the trapped man over his shoulder, much to the relief of the family. The rescue operation was over even before the firefighters arrived.
Few would have braved those flames. Fortunately for this man and his daughter, one of those few was around when they needed him.
