Designer Masaba was trolled for supporting the Supreme Court's ban on firecrackers sale.
Fashion designer Masaba Gupta Mantena has hit back at Internet trolls with a powerful statement after she was subjected to distasteful comments for supporting the Supreme Court's ban on the sale of firecrackers in Delhi NCR. In a strong statement posted about three hours before writing this, Masaba hit back at trolls who allegedly referred to her as 'bastard child' and 'illegitimate west Indian' on micro blogging website Twitter. Masaba is the daughter of actor Neena Gupta and West Indian cricketer Viv Richards.

"I am a proud Indo-Caribbean girl who doesn't know how to shrink & crumble in shame of something you or your society cannot handle," she writes.

On October 8, Masaba had tweeted 'Yes!' in response to a tweet about the firecracker ban.

She was then trolled for it.

Her powerful response to trolls, however, has been 'liked' over 1,300 times since it was posted just three hours ago on Twitter. On Instagram, it has garnered almost 6,000 'likes'.

Author Chetan Bhagat, who, incidentally, had tweeted against the firecracker ban, was among the first to tweet in support of Masaba.

Actors Sonam Kapoor and Huma Qureshi also tweeted in support of Masaba. Sonam had earlier retweeted Masaba's tweet on the ban on firecrackers in Delhi.
