In less than 24 hours, the meme has been retweeted over 23,000 times and 'liked' over 61,000 times.
On Twitter, people have a lot of questions about what the meme is supposed to mean:
Well, usually In the eclipse the Sun remains there forever and the moon moves away quickly. Am I reading too much into this?

He's eclipsing the sun with darkness? His ineptitude is overshadowing Obama's legacy? He's admitting to being racist? I don't get it. https://t.co/DmmmsWQUYx

Here's how some people interpreted the meme:
So basically Trump is the darkness that blocks the light, then moves on to let the light through again... I get it.... Good meme!!!

So, in the Trump "eclipse" tweet analogy, Barack Obama is the life-giving hot Sun and Trump is the lifeless rock that gets in the way?
— Rocky Mountain Mike (@RockyMntnMike) August 24, 2017
Eclipses have no positive impact on earth, while the Sun is what provides the entire world with life! Keep that in mind.

This, of course, is what an actual eclipse would look like (and likely will) pic.twitter.com/WRs5BWeULV

"I was trying to say that Donald J Trump's spirit and love for this country eclipses anyone and anything," the Daily Mail quotes Mr Travone as saying.
The sun disappeared behind the moon in a rare total solar eclipse that was seen coast-to-coast across the US for the first time in nearly a century on Monday. Washington DC, however, only witnessed a partial solar eclipse.
Mr Trump was photographed briefly staring up at the sun, without protection, during the eclipse. Thanks to Twitter, that moment instantly became a meme.
