Television host Ellen DeGeneres was among the 21 people among them actors Robert De Niro and Tom Hanks, basketball star Michael Jordan and philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates - honoured by US President Barack Obama with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on November 22. Now, the 58-year-old has shared exactly what went down in the White House the day she received the highest civilian honor in the US in a hilarious and heartwarming clip from her show.

In the video, shared some 17 hours before writing this, Ellen describes knowing about the medal for a month but not being able to tell anyone because it was 'top secret' and she couldn't let the information 'fall in the hands the of the Russians.' *wink wink*

She goes on to narrate how she reached the White House without an ID and caused something of a 'fuss' there. "Bruce Springsteen (also receiving the honour) and Patty (his wife) are passing me and they're like, 'how do you not bring an ID to the White House?' And I was like, 'this is my ID, Bruce. This is my ID (while pointing at her face)'" she says in the video.

Everything turned out fine because she not only went an received her medal but also pulled off easily the best #mannequinchallenge ever. It did take her time to explain to Tom Hanks and Bruce Springsteen exactly what it was but she managed to get everyone on board after a few hiccups.

The amazing video has already clocked over 2.6 million views and more than 1.1 lakh reactions on Facebook. Special mention goes to this one commenter who clicked this adorable picture with Ellen at the ceremony. Just try and ignore (if you can) the photobomber in the picture.
