New Delhi:
Circa 2004. When Google launched Gmail, many laughed off the free gigabyte storage in a mail service as an April Fools' Day prank. Today we know better. Here are some ideas that may seem outlandish now but, who knows, could be the next big thing tomorrow.
Superphone with never ending battery life: As our gadgets get more and more mobile, our lives seem to get more and more wired. Drained out batteries and the crisscrossing entangled world of charging cables are a reality we all want to wish away.
Smart cooker: If phones can get smart and Smart TVs can transform the idiot box, then even the kitchen can get brainy. Imagine an intelligent device, where you punch in the name of the dish and place the ingredients, it downloads the recipe and cooks automatically. Bon appetit, we say!
Air Car: Simply put, it is a vehicle that runs on air. And before you dismiss the idea, here's a thought - it may become a reality as early as 2016. French automobile manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroen is working on a Hybrid Air car that can run on petrol, air or a combination of both. More than an innovation, it may well be the need of the hour.
Jack of all punctures: If an Air Car is possible then can't that same air be used to fix flat tyres automatically? We propose a jack of the future that will eliminate the woes of fixing a flat tyre for good.
Mind reading computer: Think it and it will be done. A computer that can read your mind and do all your work for you. Want to pre-order the next iPhone, shop for shoes, or just get some mundane chores done? Just think it and voila! If virtual all-immersive gaming can become a reality for gamers and cognitive computing seems more and more possible today than ever before, then a mind reading virtual assistant may not be that far off.
