London:
A 63-year-old German woman who won a 330,000 pound lottery tore the cash into pieces and flushed it down the toilet after getting drunk.
Angela Maier, from Essen in Germany, won the German national lottery, receiving a 330,000 pound windfall.
Her win prompted the care home where her husband died to send her a bill towards his medical expenses, a court heard in Essen, 'metro.co.uk' reported.
She opened the letter after downing five bottles of champagne a few days after she won the lottery.
She apparently became angry with the bill and destroyed the cash rather than have some of it taken from her, the report said.
Maier may have made up the story to avoid paying the bills but it would be difficult to prove, the court heard.
She has agreed to pay 3,300 pounds in compensation to settle the case.
