Some people just won't take 'No' for an answer. Among them, a plucky 17-year-old in the US.
Siobhan O'Dell, a student from North Carolina, decided to give Duke University a taste of its own medicine when it rejected her college application.
She, in turn, rejected their rejection letter and informed them that she plans to see them in the fall.
The teenager wrote to Duke, saying : 'After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me admission into the Fall 2015 freshman class at Duke."
The letter, which she posted on her Tumblr page, has gone viral, with over 99,000 reblogs till now. Easy to see why. Sample this: "This year I have been fortunate enough to receive rejection letters from the best and brightest universities in the country."
Duke University then responded to her letter saying they understand how disappointed she is. "Please know that our decision was not a judgement of you as a student or a person, but a reflection of our limited space and talented applicant pool."
The university said O'Dell could appeal the decision by sending a letter or email to the Admissions Committee.
"If you choose to appeal, we welcome your request, but I do not wish to raise unreasonable expectations on your part," the University said in the email.
However, O'Dell doesn't plan on appealing. According to her blog, she is going to University of South Carolina for her further studies.
Thankfully, she doesn't have to write any more rejection letters.
