A day at the zoo quickly turned into stuff nightmares are made of for a family in Nebraska, USA. A 375 pound gorilla charged at them with such force that it cracked the glass of its enclosure. Talk about a wild encounter!

A 12-second video, uploaded by the Cave family on YouTube, shows Kojito, a 20-year-old silverback male, racing towards visitors and slamming into the separating wall. Mere seconds ago, Kojito was standing a short distance away, minding his own business. He may have been provoked by the little girl with the family, who is spotted beating her chest ape-like in the reflection on the glass wall.

"My seven-year-old daughter, she was actually crying," Kevin Cave told Omaha.com. "I think she was more scared because we were all running," he added.

The frightening but incredible footage has gone viral with more than 13 million views at last count on YouTube.

It also serves as a lesson in humility. Tapping on the aquarium glass to get the fish to notice you passes muster - do not do that with a gorilla, it might just be the last thing you do.
