"Memories are an important part of our lives. Even more so for someone who was a part of them, yet missed out, because he couldn't see," it says as the description for a beautiful video shared by Google India on May 24.
The video, posted on YouTube, tells the heartwarming story of Jhansi resident Amit Tiwari, who got his eyesight back after almost 15 years. "Bachpan se toh aise problem nahi thi. Iska pata chala jab tak 9th high school tak aaye," he says.
The video captures the moments before and after Amit's operation to fix his sight, including when Amit opens his eyes after the surgery and sees his family for the first time after more than a decade. His sisters prepare gifts to help Amit recover.
"Har saal sweater dete the, iss baar kuch aur layein hain," says Amit's sister Mamta after presenting him with a mobile phone with 15 years' worth of memories in the form of hundreds of photographs. One by one, Amit catches up on all the wonderful things that happened around him when he couldn't see. He tries to recognize his sisters at their weddings, his nephews and nieces, and even actor Jeetendra, whom he met a long time ago.
The video makes for a beautiful watch and reminds us not to take life for granted. It may get you all teary-eyed, but it's totally worth it. Take a look:
