Curiouser and curiouser! Louisiana's Jack Daniels Leathers and his wife Lydia welcomed home their first child on November 14, 2014, and keeping with the family tradition of whiskey-loving, the baby boy has been named Jim Beam. If the baby's name is giving you hiccups, the extremely logical reasoning behind the christening might help to soothe them down.
It's all very simple and begins with Jack's parents hunting for a name for their son which would annoy their parents, and settled for Jack Daniels, something the new dad was drinking in those days. And no, no part of that sentence has been written in zest. In an interview given to
Houma Today, Jack said, "My parents decided they wanted to name their son something to make their parents mad and at the time, my dad was drinking Jack, which he enjoyed. My mom said, 'Why not?' " Which is of course the best response to such a suggestion. Why not indeed.
So obviously such a tradition could not be broken and when Jack and Lydia were thinking of baby names (on their very first date, by the by), and settled on Jim Beam. For those who are curious, future kids of the couple would also be named in the same spirit. Pun intended. In case of a girl, the name would be Sherry and a boy would be christened Evan Williams, declares Jack Daniels. Well, cheers to that!
