The challenge was kicked off by TV host Stephen Colbert to raise funds for Hurricane Maria relief work

The 3.4 million people of Puerto Rico are struggling to survive after Hurricane Maria battered the Caribbean island. Inhabitants of the US island territory have little access to basic necessities like food, clean water, medicine and electricity leading to anger against the Trump administration.

Celebrities are now stepping in to help the people of Puerto Rico. Last week, actor and singer Jennifer Lopez contributed $1 million for relief work in the hurricane-hit island with many Latin superstars following suit.

Joining the list of celebs, TV host Stephen Colbert and actor Nick Kroll urged their showbiz colleagues to share their awkward teenage photos on social media and pledged to make a donation for the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico each time a celebrity did so.

Stephen Colbert kicked off the challenge by sharing his own #PuberMe photo

Maria, the most powerful storm to strike Puerto Rico in nearly 90 years, has killed at least 16 people on the island, according to the official death toll since it made landfall on September 20. Maria, Irma, Jose and Harvey were the most deadly Atlantic storms that hit US, Caribbean and Mexico this year.
