Meet 25-year-old Dutch student Zilla van den Born, a graphic designer based in Amsterdam who distorted reality in a way that will have you questioning your Facebook friends' exquisite holiday pictures a great many times before giving them a thumbs up (while your heart breaks) and shutting your eyes in anguish.
Zilla took a month long holiday to Asia - specifically, to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos - or so she portrayed on her Facebook profile. In truth, she sat indoors in her Amsterdam apartment, photoshopping herself into images of Asian monasteries, exotic beaches and with people. She kept up the facade for almost a month, with her family as well.
Her ulterior motive? "A project to prove that just like the rest of our social media lives, travelling photos may not always be what they seem," she writes on her Facebook page.
You have to see to believe how good she was with her editing, you too will believe she was on a holiday.
This is how she had her picture taken with a Cambodian girl
And enjoyed a stroll on the beach
Will you now ever be able to take a holiday picture on Facebook at face value?
