What does it take to have a cold one? Just a regular bottle of beer and an ordinary piece of paper to pop its top, apparently.
A video posted on YouTube shows you how to open a bottle of beer with just a sheet of paper and needless to say, the video has gone viral with over 3.8 million views. The description on YouTube also has the how-to instructions and answers to questions asked by users in the comments.
To find out for ourselves if bottle-openers are an endangered species, we attempted the seemingly impossible feat ourselves. Disclaimer - we used a Pepsi bottle since we tried this at work. And here's how the experiment went.
It took four different people trying and failing to pry open the bottle cap enough times for us to say, "humse na ho paega!" As our colleagues around us suspended work to watch, we asked a fifth person to give this a go.
Try 1: Let's try this once more, people. *Applying brute force*
Try 2: This paper is all wrong. One more sheet please.
Try 3.0: Fold one, fold two. Let's try this one more time.
Try 3: This better work. *Applying even more brute force while channeling The Hulk*
And so, finally, the bottle cap was conquered.
So there you have it. It took several million attempts to open one soft drink bottle and let's just say, it felt like one really deserved the drink after all that effort. We agree that there is a technique to this, but it's not easy to get it right the first few times.
Our final word on the topic: just use a regular old opener (or a nail cutter, or the edge of the table, or a steel bangle, or an iPhone charger) and save yourself all this trouble.
