Canada PM Justin Trudeau took an unplanned dip in the ocean as he stumbled while trying to board a kayak
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took an unplanned dip in the ocean on Saturday as he stumbled while trying to board a kayak at the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve near Victoria, Canada. Luckily, he was able to keep his sense of humour about the whole thing, even tweeting about "making a splash." And that wasn't the only photo op from his kayaking trip. Scroll down to see what else happened.
Pictures tweeted by Mr Trudeau and the Canadian press show the leader laughing while managing to keep his head above water. The rest of his body appears submerged. Some pictures even show his legs flying straight up in the air. Fortunately, the accidental spill occurred near the shore, where the water was quite shallow. Mr Trudeau was wearing a life jacket.
"I'm just happy the national media was there to capture that," the Canadian Prime Minister joked to CTV News.
Mr Trudeau was out kayaking with his wife, Sophie Trudeau.
But wait, there's more to that photo op. A little later, a bride and groom sailed up beside the Canadian Prime Minister's kayak and posed for selfies.
In one picture, tweeted by Mr Trudeau's official photographer Adam Scotti, the Canadian leader even leaned over to kiss the ecstatic bride on the cheek.
Another day, another classic Trudeau moment (or three):
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin was shown on Russian TV over the weekend catching some rays - shirtless - while on holiday.
