The Florida opossum was released after a couple of days under observation.
A law-breaking alcoholic opossum recently snuck into a liquor store and proceeded to finish a bottle of bourbon before she was found. According to local reports, the juvenile female opossum entered Cash's Liquor Store in Florida, USA, last week and drank her way through an empty and broken bottle of alcohol. She was found the morning after Thanksgiving and appeared to be pale, disoriented and excessively salivating.
"We loaded her up with fluids to help flush out any alcohol toxins," Pettis said. "She was good a couple of days later and was released Thursday night," said Michelle Pettis, a wildlife health technician at the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, where the opossum was brought for a check-up.
On social media, people have come out in defense of the marsupial:
