If #TheDress had secretly been planning world domination, it's pretty close to accomplishing it. Incredibly, that blue-black (white-gold to some) dress has been trending on social media for five days now. Can we now please stop talking about it?
Ellen Degeneres tracked down the woman who bought the dress, and the culprit who first posted it on Tumblr. Newlyweds Grace MacPhee and Keir Johnston, the people whose wedding began it all, appeared on Ellen's show with their friend Caitlin McNeill who posted the image on Tumblr and must be blamed for #TheDress. Grace's mother, Cecilia Bleasdale, made an appearance IN the dress and guess what? THE DRESS IS BLUE AND BLACK. Take that Team White and Gold.
Watch as Ellen learns from the four what personal vendetta caused them to unleash the power of the dress upon the poor internet:
Now that is in fact absolutely certain that the dress is not white and gold, please can we let #DressGate go? Because seriously, if we're not careful, psychiatrists may soon tell us that this is the leading cause behind why people have trust issues.
But more importantly, we must let it go because why are we discussing the colour of a dress on a global scale anyway? No, wait. Why are we discussing A DRESS on a global scale in the first place?
Stop, just stop. Even if you still see a white and gold dress, JUST STOP. (Also, quickly consult a doctor.)
Twitter has also had enough of the dress debate. Here's a litany of complaints:
