Professor Matuknath Chaudhary, better known as 'Love Guru' for publicly accepting his relationship with his student, has been dismissed from the post of Reader of Patna University.
The University syndicate, which met in Patna on Saturday, terminated his service after taking into consideration the report of an inquiry committee, PU vice-chancellor Shyam Lal said on Sunday.
The syndicate unanimously accepts that his acts had "not only brought disrepute to the teacher-student relationship but also tarnished the image of the university," University's pro vice-chancellor S I Ahson said.
He was put under suspension from the post of Reader in the Hindi Department of B N College for over three years and his explanation to the show-cause had remained "far from satisfactory" ever since he demonstrated his love for a student Julie, University sources said.
The teacher of Hindi first earned the university's wrath in July 2006 when he walked into a classroom at the College with Julie and delivered a lecture on love.
He hit the news headlines five years ago after his wife assaulted him and Julie in full public view with the locals smearing his face black after the two were found together in a room.
Matuknath had filed nomination during the last Lok Sabha elections from Patna Saheb constituency. It was, however, rejected on technical grounds.
