When someone says Christmas decorations, chances are the image that comes to one's mind is that of a colourful and bright festive setting in hues of red and green. That, however, isn't what Twitter sees in the White House Christmas decorations this year. A picture posted by White House communications director Stephanie Grisham shows a peek of the decorations selected by First Lady Melania Trump which has left Twitter shuddering.
"The holidays are upon us!! Right now: flotus is seeing to every last detail here at the WhiteHouse," says Ms Grisham in her tweet. The pictures posted shows an eerily lit passageway lined with white tree-like installations that cast shadows on the ceiling. The overall effect of the picture has Twitter using terms like 'creepy' and 'gloomy'.
While the picture does seem a little spooky, it seems the lighting in the hallway is to blame for the stark effect. A video tweeted by FLOTUS shows what the decorations look like and that gives a different perspective altogether.
It was, however, the photo tweeted by Ms Grisham that evoked several reactions on Twitter. Since being tweeted on November 27, the picture has collected over 4,400 'likes' and more than 1,100 retweets. Here's what Twitter is saying about it:
