Chitrangda Singh is among those who shared their pictures using #NosePinTwitter.
If you've scrolled through Twitter at all today, chances are you noticed #NosePinTwitter as a trending topic. The hashtag is being used by several women (and some men) to share pictures of them wearing some gorgeous nose accessories. The topic is so popular, there are over 5,000 tweets with the hashtag. And it all started at the behest of one woman.
"I love nose pins. I always have. And of late I have had several women come up to me and ask me where I get mine and how seeing someone wear nice unique nose pins makes them want to get one too," Delhi resident Tanzila Anis tells NDTV. She mentions that a couple of days ago, Twitter user @NameFieldmt tweeted about the hashtag. From then on, Ms Anis used the hashtag every time she changed her nose pin.
On October 14, she posted a tweet asking everyone to share their pictures with the hashtag.
What she didn't anticipate was the tremendous outpouring of response her little message would receive. Twitter shared a deluge of tweets using the hashtag, making it a trending topic today. Actor Chitrangda Singh is among the women who shared their stunning pictures using #NosePinTwitter.
"People started using the hashtag organically and it has brought so much happiness and beauty and color on everyone's timeline. It's amazing," Ms Anis tells NDTV. "Does say something about the rich beauty
desi women have," she adds.
And rightly so - just take a look at some of the pictures tweeted with the hashtag.
"Every single woman who posted their picture gives confidence to another woman to embrace her beauty and all her quirks," Ms Anis tells NDTV. It's also made several women want to get a nose piercing.
And why should women have all the fun?
