This video going viral should act as a dummy's guide to what not to do in a museum. It shows a 12-year-old Taiwanese boy accidently punching a hole in a painting worth $1.5 million. Umm, oops?
The video posted by exhibition organizers shows the pre-teen wearing a t-shirt and shorts, strolling past the painting with a drink in his hand. Seconds later, he stumbles and manages to break his fall only to end up making a fist-sized gash in the painting he held on to.
Now for a little perspective - this painting happens to be a 350-year-old Paolo Porpora artwork showcased at the 'Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius' exhibition in Taipei, according to The Guardian. The estimated value of the painting is a whopping $1.5 million.
Even though the video has no audio, you can almost hear the collective 'ooohhhhs' from those around who witnessed the boy's almost-fall. His face has been morphed, but it's hard to miss the nervousness showing in his body language.
He can probably calm down because, luckily, the 12-year-old and his family will not have to cough up money to restore the painting since its insured, according to Focus Taiwan.
