Reindeer delivering pizza! Sounds like another Christmas fantasy, doesn't it. But no, a popular pizza company has come up with the idea and plans to roll out its flock in Japan.

The delivery reindeer are still undergoing training.

Currently in the test phase, Domino's Japan is training reindeer to deliver pizzas this winter. The company feels that animals will be faster than bike boys at delivering the pies to customers in the snow.

Domino's Japan has uploaded a video on Youtube showing its employees training reindeer to carry the hotboxes on their back. This does not go too well as the pizza box tumbles off the reindeer's back as begins to trot.

When the pie hits the floor.

An employee of Domino's Japan is then seen saying: "If the reindeer are properly trained they could run at speeds of up to 80 kmph. This would help deliver pizzas quicker than bikes in the snow."

The reindeer will also have a GPS tracking device on them, so that customers can track their orders using a smartphone or computer.

Customers can track their delivery reindeer, which have a GPS, on their smartphones or computers.

The company is also testing strapping the animals to sleighs for safer delivery of the orders. These pizza-delivering reindeer will definitely go down in history, like Rudolf the Rednosed, as either an elaborate stunt or a fuel-efficient innovation.

Japan seems headed for an early cheesy Christmas this year.

Reindeer delivery may become a common site at road crossings in Japan.
