Was there a secret meeting among Bollywood stars this year in which they decided to undergo drastic makeovers/makeunders for their upcoming films? It sure looks like it, based on the new looks some of our favourite actors are sporting these days.
Aamir Khan's
Dangal persona and the
Sultan version of Salman Khan have already kept us interested with glimpses of their transformed bodies. The newest entrant in this club is Randeep Hooda, who has radically transformed himself for his upcoming Sarabjit Singh biopic, setting social media abuzz with his before and after pictures.
Now as we wait (barely), here are five huge makeovers by Bollywood stars in films this year we're looking forward to seeing on screen.
1. Randeep Hooda, Sarabjit Singh biopicThe Highway actor pretty much took over social media on Friday by tweeting a picture of his incredible transformation. He's gone from 94 to 66 kgs (that's an 18 kgs weight loss) in just 28 days for his role as Sarabjit Singh, the Indian who died in a Pakistani prison. The before and after on this one is extremely hard to digest and hunger-pang inducing.
2. Aamir Khan, DangalMr Perfectionist has put on 25 kgs for his role in Dangal and currently weighs about 95 kgs. "My mom and my wife are very worried about my health as they feel I am playing with my health. Even I feel the same," Aamir had told the media earlier.
Astonishingly, he is now going to have to lose all that extra weight or maybe more to shoot the second part of the same film. Aamir has been cast as former national level wrestler Mahavir Phogat and to play the younger version of his character, he will have to change his body to look like Sushil Kumar or similar.
It's no surprise Aamir is making so much effort for his film. This isn't the first time he has gone through such a rigorous body transformation - a certain eight-pack look in Ghajini come to mind?
3. Salman Khan, SultanThe one thing that's probably been in the news more than Sultan's leading lady is Salman's beefed up look for his role as a Haryanvi wrestler. Along with the body transformation, Salman has also been training in mixed martial arts and wrestling for the film. Now that's what you call committing to the part.
4. Shah Rukh Khan, FanFor the Maneesh Sharma film, SRK plays a double role - he's the star and the star's fan, a Delhi resident called Gaurav. With the help of prosthetics, King Khan has been transformed into a regular 24-year-old, an experience he describes as "very interesting and schizophrenic". The actor looks so unrecognizable that audience is already hooked and eagerly waiting for the film to come out.
5. Rishi Kapoor, Kapoor And SonsGreg Cannom, the Academy Award makeup artist who helped transform Shah Rukh into Gaurav, also helped 63-year-old Rishi Kapoor look like an 85-year-old old man in his upcoming film - a makeover that reportedly cost filmmaker Karan Johar a whopping Rs 1.5 to Rs 1.75 crore.
"During the shoot, I had to sit for five hours every day for almost a month and I had to wake up at 5 am. I am a drinking man and people say I have no patience, but for me to wake up early every day and sit for five hours straight was a bit of a task. It would take that much time to put the make up on and then about an hour to remove it at the end of the day. Cannom has invented these really thin silicon layers that were like second skin. He would use eight of them - six on my face and two on my hands. Then he would create everything, the wrinkles, age spots, everything. I am so grateful that I got this opportunity," the actor told Mid-Day.com.
We can't wait for these films to release. Can you?
