A wonderful thing is happening on the Internet. Netizens are coming together to help the family that gave them one of their favourite memes - 'the success kid'.
Justin Griner, the father of the fist-clenching Sammy is in need of a kidney transplant. So his wife, Laney Robertson Griner, set up a GoFundMe page on April 8, asking people to help cover her husband's medical expenses.
In a major win for the World Wide Web and humanity, the Griners have managed to collect way beyond their target of $75,000 in just a week.
Not only this, netizens are also sending their best wishes to the family, with many offering to undergo required tests to see if their kidneys are a match with Justin.
Back in August 2007, a picture of then 11-month-old Sammy's victory face went viral, prompting the famous 'I hate sandcastles' meme. And thus, Sammy Griner came to be known the world over as 'the success kid'.
Here's hoping 'the success kid' finds his own success story very soon.
