Reporter Writes His Own Obituary. It Makes For A Heartbreaking Read
"If you are reading this, that means that I am no longer here," wrote Mark Mooney in his obituary. Titled "My Last Byline," the American journalist's obituary also serves as the final post in his blog "Closing in on -30-", where he had been documenting his cancer battle. He started the blog last year after being told by doctors that he had only two years to live.

"The prostate cancer finished toying with me on October 6, 2017. I was 66 and glad to be done with the damn disease," Mr Mooney wrote.

Surprisingly, his one lament was wishing he had been able to do more work as a journalist.

"I wish I had done more work as a news reporter. Written better stories. Made more and better contacts. Skipped some of the easier pieces and done more in-depth stories. Spent more time on foreign stories. Been a better editor," he wrote.

"I loved being a reporter... It's where I met most of my best friends. It's where I met my wife Barbara," he added.

Mr Mooney's final wish: "In lieu of flowers, donate to a favorite cause."
