As far as Rio Olympic moments to remember go, Bahamian sprinter Shaunae Miller's lunge at the end of the women's 400 meter dash to claim the gold will rate among the top few.

Ms Miller, 22, who pulled off a dramatic win with a time of 49.44 seconds, dove over the finish line to grab the gold from American sprinter Allyson Felix on Monday night. "It just kind of happened. It was just a reaction -- my mind just went completely blank," she told news agency AFP.

The dive broke no rules but social media has worked itself into a frenzy debating Ms Miller's win. While some on Twitter are congratulating the athlete for her all-or-nothing attempt to win, several others were left unimpressed.

Twitter also did what it does best - turn the moment into a viral meme. (Shifting focus from Usain Bolt's cheeky smile meme, are we?)
