She Had A Cheating Husband, But Wouldn't Take It Lying Down

"Trying to prove a point", she walked out on her cheating husband and heartless father to her daughter

New Delhi: "I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass." - Maya Angelou

The quote above, by famous American poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou (1928 - 2014) has been manifested in what this brave woman did.

"Trying to prove a point," she says, she walked out on her cheating husband and heartless father to her daughter. The man had an affair with another woman and on being confronted he said, "It happens in every family-- at least I'm giving you a place to stay, so you shouldn't complain." She left her daughter with her parents in the village and came to Mumbai to earn a living.

"I've been working as domestic help for a few years now, and I've been able to educate my daughter as well as pay for the expenses of my parents. Every month, I save a little money so that I can build a better house for all of us in my village and little by little that dream is coming true as well," she says.

Her story was captured through the lens of 'Humans of Bombay'.
