Seen as a symbol of peace during a moment of profound grief, the photo was taken at a candlelight vigil on June 13.
At a memorial service held for the 49 lives claimed by the Orlando shooting, a photographer captured a stunning and poignant shot of 49 birds flying in the sky, reports CNN.
Seen as a symbol of peace during a moment of profound grief, the photo was taken at a candlelight vigil on June 13 held at the Dr Phillips Performing Arts Center. On June 12, a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, leaving 49 dead. He was later identified as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old US citizen of Afghan descent.
According to CNN, the photographer, who asked to stay anonymous, noticed the flock of birds when the names of the victims were being announced. She clicked a picture and then realized the birds were exactly 49 in number.
"Seeing the birds made me feel a sense of peace about the tragedy," she told CNN. Others at the memorial service too were surprised to see the birds.
