Guess what, emoji over-users? You're not the only ones who think little smiley/angry/sad faces say it better than words. As it turns out, Oxford Dictionaries completely agrees with you. And that's saying something. 

They've just announced the word of 2015 and get this, it's not a word at all - it's an emoji. 
For the first time ever, Oxford Dictionaries has selected a pictograph as the word of the year. And it is this:
 

How does that make you feel?

"This year Oxford University Press have partnered with leading mobile technology business SwiftKey to explore for some of the most popular emojis across the world, and "Face With Tears of Joy" was chosen because it was the most used emoji globally in 2015," Oxford Dictionaries explains in a blog.

You may or may not know this but the word "emoji" has been around since 1997 although usage has "tripled in 2015 over the previous year according to data from the Oxford Dictionaries Corpus."

"Face With Tears of Joy" beat eight other competitors to win the coveted 'Word of Year' spot.
