Memories are often bitter-sweet. The warmth of a cherished memory might well bring with it the pain of loss. The reverse is also true - nothing and nobody is ever lost because they live on in thoughts and memories. This beautiful new ad featuring LP records is a reminder of the power of recollection.
The video shows a 68-year-old woman looking for an old song which reminds her of her late mother.
In the opening of the ad, she asks this question: "If you have only three hours to wrap up your whole life, what will you pack?"
She then visits a 65-year-old record store in search of that one song which holds her most precious childhood memories. She doesn't remember the lyrics of the song so well but she does recall the name of the singer - Zaheera Bano.
The story goes back to the 1940s when she started the first all-women theatre group in Karachi. Those were her best days, an active theatre career made more special by the presence of her mother. Then came the Partition and she was forced to flee Karachi in three hours. She left her childhood behind, she says.
She narrates her story to a young filmmaker who finds the song for her. What happens when she hears the song played after so many years? Watch it for yourself. And keep a box of tissues close.
